If you've been excited for NetherRealm's new Mortal Kombat X game that should hit PC and consoles on April 14, then you will be even more excited to learn that developers have decided to launch a mobile version as well.

The mobile version will be a free-to-play fighting/card battle hybrid game that will allow players to take advantage of all Mortal Kombat characters, including Scorpion, Sub-Zero and Raiden, as well as the Next generation of Kombatants.

Mortal Kombat X for mobile devices has been developed by NetherRealm Studios, the same folks that created the PC and console versions.

Although the mobile version will be more of a card game, developers claim players will still be able to feel the “iconic visceral combat with vicious graphics that Mortal Kombat fans love, along with brutal Fatalities, x-rays and more.”

Owners of PC and console version can unlock content in the mobile game

Mortal Kombat X for mobile devices will be launched sometime in April, possibly after the release of the PC and console version. However, it will only be compatible with Android and iOS (iPad, iPhone and iPod touch) devices (sorry Windows Phone users).

It's also worth mentioning that players who own the PC or console version of Mortal Kombat X will be able to unlock content in the mobile game and vice versa by signing for a Warner Bros Play account and completing various tasks and achievements within each version.

“NetherRealm Studios has created a Mortal Kombat X mobile experience that allows more players than ever before to play this over-the-top fighting game through their ever-present smartphones, tablets or other devices,” said Ed Boon, creative director, NetherRealm Studios.

“What’s more, we’ve expanded the unique cross-connectivity feature that links the mobile and console versions of Mortal Kombat X,delivering unique rewards to all players for simply playing the mobile game,” added Boon.
