The freakishly fast monster truck, known as the Raminator, set the new Guinness world record earlier this week

Just a few days ago, a monster truck managed to set a new Guinness world record. Thus, the massive four-wheeler, photos of which are available in the gallery accompanying this article, is now considered the world's absolute fastest vehicle of this kind.

The monster truck, whose nickname is the Raminator, broke the previous record while being driven by Mark Hall at the Circuit of The Americas in the city of Austin in Texas. The race was caught on camera, and part of the footage is available below.

Breaking a Guinness world record

As detailed by autoevolution, it was this past Monday, December 15, that the Raminator became the absolute fastest monster truck anywhere in the world. Officials with Guinness World Records documented its performance and awarded it this title.

It is understood that, on that day, Mark Hall managed to push the monster truck to a speed of 99.10 miles per hour (159.49 kilometers per hour). The previous speed record for such vehicles was one of 96.8 miles per hour (155.78 kilometers per hour).

Interestingly enough, it appears that, this past December 15, Mark Hall broke the Guinness speed record for a monster truck not just once, but three times. Thus, before reaching the speed that secured the Raminator its title, he had made the four-wheeler go freakishly fast on two other occasions.

“Mark attempted the record a total of three times, each run faster than the previous, with speeds of 157.65 km/h, 158.57 km/h and 159.49 km/h [97.95 mph, 98.53 mph and 99.10 mph] respectively with all runs breaking the previous record,” Guinness World Records explains.

An impressive achievement

Let's face it, there are plenty of cars in this world that go way faster than the Raminator and Mark Hall did this Monday. Still, this does not change the fact that the speed the monster truck managed to reach at the Circuit of the The Americas in Austin, Texas, is nothing short of impressive.

Thus, it's important to keep in mind that, as made obvious by their name, monster trucks are not built for speed. They are designed to crush all sorts of obstacles and even leap through the air in the arena, but they are not supposed to be driven at what some might consider a normal speed.

Commenting on the success in setting a new world record, Hall Brothers Racing President and Crew Chief Tim Hall said, “Taking on the challenge of breaking a world record has been an experience we will never forget. With the support of Ram and Mopar, we continue to add to our achievements and are honored to now be a Guinness World Records holder.”
