The team at publisher Electronic Arts has released its financial results for the recent quarter and the company has also confirmed that it plans to launch the long-awaited Mirror’s Edge 2 alongside a new Need for Speed and a new Plants vs. Zombies title in early 2016.

None of the mentioned titles has received a clear launch date, and no platforms were mentioned for them.

Presumably, the main development platforms will be the Xbox One from Microsoft and the PlayStation 4 from Sony, with a PC version also planned to arrive on the same date.

Electronic Arts has not offered any sort of details about the projects in the recent investor presentation.

The company might be getting ready to reveal more details about Mirror’s Edge 2 during the coming E3 2015 event.

It might also use its press conference there to officially reveal the new Need for Speed and Plants vs. Zombies.

Mirror’s Edge 2 has been in development for some time

The new title in the series focused on free-running is in the works at DICE, but fans were probably not expecting to see it launch as soon as early 2016.

The first Mirror’s Edge was a critical hit and those who played it loved the aesthetics and the mechanics, but it did not manage to sell enough copies to become a commercial success.

DICE has not offered any information about the sequel, but the team has promised that it will keep the core features and will seek to expand the unique elements.

The first quarter of the year is becoming an important launch period for companies that are trying to see what impact their smaller franchises can have.

So far, Electronic Arts has not talked about the future of the Need for Speed series, although some rumors have been saying that there are plans to focus on a title that delivers more multiplayer elements.

When it comes to Plants vs. Zombies, the publisher has not made it clear whether it will be expanding the core tower defense series or if the new title is linked to Garden Warfare, which has become a surprise hit for the company.
