One of the important pieces of software for gamers who decide to upgrade to Windows 10 is the Xbox App, which has been recently demoed by Microsoft during its unveiling event a few days ago.

The Xbox App is meant offer a hub for players where they can find just about anything related to games and entertainment in general. Microsoft also stated that the application will continue to be updated with new features and functionality, many based on the users’ feedback.

Until then though, Microsoft decided to include the Xbox App in the January build of the Windows 10 Technical Preview and even released a video showing some of its features.

Although the application isn't yet complete, it still offers a decent range of features that have been recently detailed by Microsoft.

Here are the main features included in this build of Xbox App

Let's start with Your Profile, which provides users with quick access to their Xbox profiles and recent activity, as well as achievements. The version of the Xbox App in the initial preview build will allow you to check your Gamerscore, recent Activity, Achievements, Following lists and Game Clips.

With Friends functionality, users will be able to see their friends across devices, but they can also search someone in particular. There's also the option to check out a friend's recent activity, achievements, friends, games they follow and game clips.

The Messages tab is where you can view messages received from other users, as well as system messages / notifications.

The Activity Feed allows Xbox App users to view their activity feed and post text, like and comment on their friends' recent achievements and Game clips. However, you will notice that, in this version of the application, the sharing feature is not available yet.

Home is the application's home page, so expect it to be populated with the most important features. You will be able to quickly access your Recently Played games, your friends and their online status. There's also an Activity Feed of recent events, game clips and more.

Last but not least, the Settings tab is the place where you can see the application's version number and Sign out from Xbox App if you want to. You can also enable or disable Live tile and Notifications from within the Settings.

Xbox App will be an integral part of Windows 10 and will be available on both PCs and Xbox One consoles powered by this operating system.
