The application was in beta since early April

The release of Office Lens in Google Play Store shouldn't be a surprise for Android fans, since the application was announced back in early April.

However, the application was in beta until today, so only those enrolling in the testing program could download and install it.

That didn't happen with the iOS version, which was made available in App Store the same day the announcement went live.

Anyway, for those Android users out of the loop, here are some of the things they can do with the final version of Office Lens.

First of all, Microsoft's Office Lens is aimed at those who need to take pictures of whiteboards and docs readable. The application is capable of trimming and enhancing these pictures in order to be able to read them with ease.

Office Lens can also convert images to PDF, as well as Word and PowerPoint files. Also, users can save images to OneNote and OneDrive.

Trim, enhance and make pictures of whiteboards

Basically, the application works like a mini scanner that you can take with you while you're on the move. It can digitalize notes on both whiteboards and blackboards, but it can also scan business cards and other important documents.

You can even crop a picture of a whiteboard or blackboard and share the notes with anyone you want. Office Lens can automatically recognize printed text via OCR, so you will be able to search for words in images and copy or edit them.

Microsoft has many other apps and services in the pipeline, and some of them will arrive on Android as well.

Until then though, you can now download Office Lens for Android for free via Google Play Store. Keep in mind that the application should be fully compatible with all devices powered by Android 4.1 and up.
