Office 365, Skype to be installed on Android tablets

Microsoft and Samsung announced earlier this month they have teamed up to bring Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge users new apps and services like OneNote, OneDrive and Skype.

These applications and services will come pre-installed on Samsung's flagship smartphones when they are released on the market next month.

In addition, Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge will come with 100GB of additional free cloud storage for two years through Microsoft OneDrive.

Today, the Redmond-based company announces it has decided expand the partnership with Samsung to more Android devices.

This means that, in the first half of 2015, Samsung will pre-install Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, OneDrive and Skype on select Samsung Android tablets.

“Great things happen when you converge services and devices. Our partnership with Samsung is emblematic of our efforts to bring the best of Microsoft's productivity services to everyone, on every device, so people can be productive wherever, however and whenever they want,” said Peggy Johnson, executive vice president of business development, Microsoft.

Business customers will benefit from additional bonuses

According to Microsoft, business customers that purchase Android devices through Samsung's business-to-business sales channels will be given access to three versions of Office 365: Business, Business Premium and Enterprise.

It's also worth mentioning that the bundle will also include Samsung's KNOX security solution and a setup service to help businesses get up and running with products and ongoing support.

Also Microsoft only mentions that some of its apps and services will be pre-installed on Samsung Android tablets, we expect OneNote, OneDrive and Skype to arrive on smartphones as well.

In other news, Microsoft announced earlier today that it has partnered with 11 hardware manufacturers, including Dell and Pegatron, which will see some of its apps and services (OneNote, OneDrive and Skype) pre-installed on their Android devices.
