Phil Spencer, the leader of the Xbox One team at Microsoft, is suggesting that a host of new features are coming to the home console in the coming months and that those who are part of the preview program will have plenty of new concepts to test out.

In a message on Twitter, the executive explains that the company is using all the data gathered from testers, but he did not offer any details about the type of new features that will be introduced.

It is also unclear when the new elements for the Xbox One will arrive and how long they will remain in testing.

One priority for Microsoft is to fix the Party Chat service, which has been drawing complaints from a wide number of users in the past few months.

The company has also dropped hints that it is introducing more features for the Kinect motion tracking system, even if the device is no longer part of the core console package.

Spencer also told fans that the company might create a new device built around Windows 10, which would allow users to stream the video games they are playing on the Xbox One.

The Microsoft executive is trying to offer as little info as possible in order to make sure that he does not create too many expectations among the user community for the home console.

An open app environment might be arriving in the fall

The company needs to add new and interesting features to the Xbox One in order to try and close the sales gap that the rival PlayStation 4 has managed to open since they were both introduced in late 2013.

Despite a major drop in price and some big promotions, the Microsoft platform has not seen a sustained increase in the number of devices delivered to gamers.

A rumor is suggesting that the Xbox One will get a new and open environment for applications in the fall, which would allow every interested team to use an SDK and create interesting services for it.

Microsoft also wants to better integrate the home console and PCs running Windows 10, creating a unified marketplace for them and making sure that gamers can access content on both.
