Platform holder Microsoft is saying that the Chinese launch of the Xbox One, which took place today after a slight delay, is at the moment a success and that the company has clear plans to continue to work with its partners in order to deliver more content for the platform that's tailor-made for the users.

The official announcement has a gallery that shows how the console was received by first buyers, but there is no official information on how many devices have been sold or at least how many of them have been delivered to stores.

Microsoft states, "Now available at more than 4,000 retail locations in 37 cities throughout the People’s Republic of China, gamers and families throughout the country now have access to some of the best games and entertainment experiences spanning racing, sports, fitness, dance and adventure with music, karaoke, entertainment, social and more app experiences to come."

The company is at the moment working with more than 70 local teams in order to create specific applications, but no details about a launch schedule have been offered yet.

Phil Spencer, the leader of the Xbox division, states, "This milestone is significant for both our partnership with China and our global expansion plan. Every new market launch is unique and we’re grateful to our fans for their patience and enthusiasm. We will continue to work closely with our partner BesTV to bring exciting games, entertainment and app experiences to delight gamers across China."

Worldwide sales and a possible price cut

At the moment, the Xbox One is available in 41 countries and Microsoft claims that it will continue to make it available on other markets in the coming months.

The company has not been offering details on sales in the past few months, but rumors are saying that it has only moved around 7 million devices to stores.

At the same time, Sony has announced that the rival PlayStation 4 has managed to sell more than 10 million units to actual gamers all over the world and is showing no signs of slowdown.

The Xbox One has been selling slower initially because of the inclusion of the unpopular Kinect motion tracking system, which was eliminated from the core retail package in June.

The expected rebound failed to happen and some sources are suspecting that Microsoft might be getting ready to announce another price cut in time for the Christmas shopping season.
