New Lumias pass certification in Indonesia

Microsoft has recently dropped Nokia and replaced it with the Microsoft Lumia brand, so the Redmond-based tech company is now in the process of revamping the smartphone lineup with new models that could see daylight in the coming months.

Unsurprisingly, some of these devices are being spotted across the world, as Microsoft is very close to completing their development, so new information on Redmond’s mobile plans arrives on a regular basis.

Today, such info comes from Indonesia, where two different Lumia phones have recently passed certification and pretty much received the go-ahead to be launched on the local market, thus indicating that the company is again looking at emerging markets with an affordable phone model.

Obviously, more is yet to be disclosed right now and Microsoft keeps all details secret, but we do know that a budget phone is already in the works at this point and the one getting the green light in Indonesia could indeed be this model.

Lumia RM-1069 and Lumia RM-1110 both cleared

NPU writes today that two different Lumia phones passed certification in Indonesia, and although specifics are missing in both cases, they do come with Microsoft branding, which could be a sign that Redmond is indeed planning to tackle the affordable smartphone market with new models.

RM-1069 is one of the models expected to launch in Indonesia and several other developing markets, including China. Specifications that were provided by AdDuplex a few days ago revealed that this particular model could come with a 4-inch display featuring a resolution of 480x800 pixels, which makes it clear that Microsoft is planning to make it really affordable.

At the same time, AdDuplex says that this model has been spotted mostly in Asia, but it’s not yet known if Microsoft also wants to bring it in other markets as well.

RM-1110 is the second phone that passed certification in Indonesia, but as compared to the other model, it appears that it’s wearing the Nokia brand instead of Microsoft’s Lumia.

This could mean that it might actually hit the market using the Nokia name, but this could obviously change before the public release scheduled to take place at some point in the next few months.

The next few months will be really busy for Microsoft, as the company is working not only to bring more devices to the market, but also to revamp the Windows Phone lineup, so a new operating system could see daylight in 2015. Windows Phone 10 is already in development as we speak and a preview build is likely to be shipped to users in January.
