14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft officially started the Lumia Denim firmware update rollout in December, and the company provided only few details about this release, explaining that everyone should get it before the end of January.
And yet, here we are on January 16 and Lumia Denim is still missing from plenty of phones out there, and the majority of countries in Europe are still on Cyan for the time being.
But according to new reports, the Lumia Denim rollout continues these days, and the Lumia 930, Microsoft’s 5-inch flagship device that was initially expected to be among the first to get the firmware update, is now provided with the new version. At least in some countries, that is.
WindowsCentral has a list of countries in Europe getting the Lumia Denim treatment for the 930 and you can find it after the jump as well, but our units are yet to receive this update and still run Cyan.
What’s new in Denim
In case you’re wondering why so much interest in getting Denim as soon as possible, it’s because this firmware update brings several camera improvements for Windows Phone users, and it’s easy to see why owners of Lumia 930, which already has a terrific camera, want it so bad.
And yet, flagships such as Lumia 930 and Lumia 1520 have been so far more or less neglected in the Denim rollout, and both devices are still on Cyan in most of the markets.
In addition to many camera improvements, Denim also brings all Windows Phone 8.1 Update changes, including live folders and all the other tweaks.
Plus, as a bonus, you also get the “Hey Cortana” option, which allows Windows Phone users to launch the personal assistant with a voice command and without the need to touch their devices.
The Denim firmware rollout is expected to complete by the end of the month, but it could obviously take longer than that in specific markets. And yet, all eyes are on the Windows Phone 10 preview that’s very likely to see daylight next week and which could be installed on all Windows Phone 8 devices.
