One of the newest Windows Phone handsets launched by Microsoft, Lumia 640, will be released on the market sometime in April. The smartphone was unveiled earlier this month at Mobile World Congress 2015 trade fair and will come in two versions.

The standard Lumia 640 model and the XL version have similar specs with slight differences. Microsoft Lumia 640 will be released worldwide next month and many carriers have already confirmed they will offer the smartphone.

In the United States, T-Mobile and MetroPCS have already been mentioned among the carriers to sell the Lumia 640 next month. However, for the time being we don't know when exactly the smartphone will be released and for how much.

We do know that the Lumia 640 landing page has just been published on T-Mobile's website, which means we're very close to launch.

Keep in mind that the Lumia 640 will ship with Windows Phone 8.1 with Lumia Denim, but it will receive a Windows 10 for Phones update later this year.

The smartphone hasn't been included on the list of Windows 10 Technical Preview supported devices, but it might be added later on.

Moving on to specs, the Lumia 640 sports a decent 5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution and features Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating.

The phone is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, an Adreno 305 graphics processing unit and 1GB of RAM.

Microsoft Lumia 640 packs 8GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 128GB via microSD card slot. On the back, the handset features an 8-megapixel camera with LED flash, autofocus and full HD (1080p) video recording, while in the front there's a 1-megapixel camera.

It's also worth mentioning that the smartphone comes with LTE support as well as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS with AGPS and FM Radio.
