The brand new Lumia 532 was officially presented today and will go on sale next month, with a price tag of €79 ($85) and available in either single SIM or dual SIM versions.
Specifically designed to help Microsoft get more of the affordable smartphone market, the Lumia 532 comes with a 4-inch display with a resolution of 800x400 pixels, 1 GB of RAM, and 8 GB of internal storage.
This makes it very similar to the Lumia 435, also introduced today, but it’s a better option thanks to the 5-megapixel camera mounted on the back. A VGA camera is also offered on the front side for video calls.
At the same time, the device is also powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor and comes with a 1560 mAh battery whose performance is yet to be disclosed.
Specifically designed to be affordable
Microsoft says that both the 435 and the 532 were designed to be as affordable as possible, and there’s no doubt that the company hopes to use them both to compete against Android devices in markets where budget models are selling like hot cakes.
“With the Lumia 435 and Lumia 532, we’ve realized our goal of creating the most affordable Lumia devices to date, opening up the opportunity to reach those people who are buying a smartphone for the very first time,” Jo Harlow, corporate vice president for phones at Microsoft, said in a statement today.
“Lumia 435 and Lumia 532 deliver competitive hardware alongside innovative software that will continue to receive the very latest updates and enhancements, keeping users up-to-date with the best new features.”
Just like the new Lumia 435, the 532 will go on sale in all markets next month, with pricing to vary a little bit by country and operator. Several colors, including bright green, bright orange, white and black, will be offered.
