During Microsoft's “Windows 10 Next Chapter” event earlier today, developer Lionhead Studios confirmed their Fable Legends game would be launched at the same time on Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs.

The upcoming cooperative RPG to be published by Microsoft will also feature cross-platform play, which means Xbox One gamers will be able to play against others from Windows 10 PCs. Here is what Xbox head Phil Spencer had to say about Fable Legends and cross-platform play:

“This means Fable fans running Windows 10 will be able to play against their fellow gamers on Xbox One. It’s the same game, in the same world, on the same map.

“Fable Legends is just the first of the major game franchises from Microsoft Studios coming to Windows 10 and we will have more to share in the coming months.”

Basically, this means that your PC must be powered by Windows 10 in order to take advantage of the cross-platform play feature. Fable Legends is likely to support older Windows versions, but in order to benefit from all its features, it will probably require Windows 10.

The game will be launched in 2015 and it will feature DirectX 12 support

Fable Legends is the fifth installment in the Fable series and will allow up to five players to take control of four Heroes and one Villain. The roles can be filled by the AI as well, so there's no need to have five human gamers playing it.

Heroes will have to complete quests, while the Villain player will have to oppose them with his army of monsters.

The game can be played very easily in single player (with AI), as well as multiplayer, but the cross-platform support encourages Fable Legends gamers to play it with their friends.

For the time being, there's no exact release date for Fable Legends, by Microsoft confirmed the game would be launched in 2015, and with DirectX 12 support.
