The company confirms that a new version is ready

Microsoft's Gabriel Aul, head of the Windows Insider program, confirmed in a tweet that a new build of Windows 10 preview would be released today for everyone, but not before more testing is performed to make sure that everything works as expected.

There still are bugs in this version, Aul warned, but fixes should be provided shortly after the release, as more insiders take the new build for a spin and submit feedback to the company.

The new build will be 10122 so just like rumored, it will be part of the 1012x series, which could be an indication that Microsoft's development process is advancing at the expected pace.

The last build for insiders?

Speculation swirling around these days online claims that this could be the very last build of Windows 10 for insiders before the big RTM launch during the summer, but one of Gabe's tweets indicates that some other releases could also take place by the time the operating system is signed off.

“Will use that next time,” he said when talking about a poll option that would allow insiders to choose whether to get a build more prone to bugs or wait until issues are fixed. If there's a next time, there's also a next Windows 10 build, so more work might need to be done before RTM is ready.

In the meantime, Windows 10 build 10122 will be released to insiders through Windows Update, but keep in mind that only those enrolled in the fast ring will get it. If bugs are fixed fast enough, slow ring users could get it too, but it all depends on how many critical issues are found in the operating system.

Microsoft Edge, refinements to the Start menu, and other few tweaks here and there are expected to be part of Windows 10 build 10122. The full list of changes will be released in just a few hours when the new build goes live via Windows Update.

Update: It's out! Windows 10 build 10122 is now available for download.
