Microsoft already presented the new Windows 10 for Phones at the press event this month, but the company is planning to roll out a video overview of the new mobile operating system in the coming weeks.

Microsoft's Joe Belfiore has confirmed this in a post today, adding that the new video, which will most likely showcase all the new features in Windows 10 for Phones, will go live in the coming weeks, probably together with the early preview build of the operating system at the beginning of February.

Preview build coming next month

Microsoft is working to release a new Insider program, this time for phones, that would offer users quick access to the early tidbits of the operating system and allow them not only to try out these builds but also to provide feedback and suggestions to the company in order to improve certain features.

The very first preview build of Windows 10 for Phones is expected to launch in early February, the company said during its January 21 event, but no specifics were provided.

Windows 10 for Phones preview will be available for all devices currently running Windows Phone 8.1 and will ship through the standard phone update system, after users install a dedicated app that Microsoft has already published in the store (but has all features locked).

All Windows Phone 8.1 devices will support it

Microsoft promised that absolutely all devices currently powered by Windows Phone 8.1 would be upgradable to Windows 10 for Phones but admitted that some models, including low-end Lumias, might actually lack certain features, as more powerful hardware would be needed.

There were no details provided as part of the announcement, but the company clearly hopes to make the Windows 10 experience available to as many users as possible, so in addition to free upgrades, also expect several other new phones to hit the shelves together with the new operating system.
