Starting today, the Bing homepage comes with HD photos that not only look great on the search engine website, but can also be downloaded to your computer and used as wallpapers for your own desktop, no matter the platform you are using.
Microsoft says that this has actually been one of the most requested features via the Bing.com Feedback link, and since the company is really keen on implementing the options users want, HD wallpapers are now available for everyone out there.
The 1920x1080 px photos are not the only improvement that Microsoft made to the search engine, but they're definitely the big star of this update, as Bing now becomes a pretty handy source of HD wallpapers for users worldwide.
New tools on the Bing homepage
Starting today, the Bing homepage also comes with new image captions that provide more information on the wallpaper and the location that Microsoft highlights every day on its search engine page.
“That feedback inspired us to redesign how we share information about the homepage, by creating an image caption that works a little like the title cards you might see next to a piece of artwork in a gallery or museum. So now you can move your mouse over the Info button to reveal the new image caption and click to learn more or download the image to use as your desktop wallpaper,” the company explains.
At the same time, there are also more customization options available, just in case you want to tweak your experience to follow more information on the Bing homepage.
You can thus add news, stocks, weather, and track flights from the Bing homepage, with more settings available in your account.
One-click Office Online access
Another helpful improvement for the Bing homepage is the addition of Office Online shortcuts, which basically allow you to access Word, Excel, and PowerPoint in your browser with a single click.
Microsoft says that users needed such an addition, as many actually used Bing to search for the official website of Office Online, so everyone can access the productivity solution from the homepage.
All these improvements are available in every country out there, but the HD wallpapers can only be downloaded in ten markets across the globe. Carousel customization and minimizing options are only offered to users in the United States.
