Yureka is a lot cheaper than the OnePlus One

You might be aware that device maker Micromax managed to score an exclusive deal with Cyanogen in India, which now left previous partners like OnePlus out in the cold looking for alternate solutions, like building their own custom ROM.

Anyway, last week we were telling you that Micromax sent out a very futuristic invite to an event focused on its upcoming CyanogenMod line of devices dubbed Yu.

Prior to the event, one of the company’s officials said that Yu would be a “monster device” so we certainly got our hopes up quite a lot.

Micromax reveals the Yureka smartphone

Today the first arrival from the Yu family breaks cover, revealing itself as the Micromax Yureka. You’re probably very curios to find out what the device brings to the table, so we’re going to dig right into it.

The handset comes boasting a 5.5-inch 720p display, but a monster device could have at least donned 1080p, right?

Under the hood breathes a 64-bit quad-core Snapdragon 615 chip fitted with 2GB of RAM and 16G of internal storage (but there’s a microSD card present).

There might be a slight problem with the Snapdragon 615 as Qualcomm is said be experiencing some design issues regarding it. This might lead the platform to arrive late on the market, causing handsets taking advantage of it to be late as well. But hopefully this will not the case.

The photographic department is handled by a 13MP camera, while up in front lies a 5MP selfie-friendly shooter.

Yureka is powered by CyanogenMod 11 which is based on Android 4.4.4 KitKat. It offers built-in theme support and Nextbit Baton (a software designed to sync and backup all your apps over many devices running CyanogenMod).

The handset also bundles dual-SIM capabilities and LTE.

Last but not least, we’ll tell you the device is sustained by a decent 2,500 mAh battery. As for availability, Amazon India has already setup a page for the handset.

You'll have to register if you ever hope to buy the device

Even so, the smartphone is not available for purchase yet. Micromax will follow OnePlus’ strategy and offer the handset through online-only sales.

But in order to be eligible to get the Yureka, you'll have to register with Amazon India starting December 19 and hope you’re going to get picked.

We’re pretty sure the Yureka is going to attract the attention of a lot of customers, especially since it will be offered for the very budget-friendly price tag of $142 / €115.
