Indian company Micromax is about to launch yet another Android smartphone, the Canvas Play. As expected, this is a mid-range device that will probably go on sale in the next couple of weeks.

The Canvas Play has already been listed on Micromax’s official website, but no details on price and availability have been attached to it.

However, based on the previous experience with Micromax, the Canvas Play should be available soon for a reasonable price, probably no more than Rs 5,000 ($80 / €70).

The good news is Micromax confirmed all the specs of the Canvas Play, so customers can decide whether to wait for it or turn to other affordable devices.

The most important thing seems to be the fact that the smartphone will ship with Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system right out of the box.

Lots of pre-loaded apps will be included too

If Micromax Canvas Play will go on sale for no more than Rs 5,000, then this might be one of its major sale points. Another one could be the 5.5-inch FWVGA (854 x 480 pixels) resolution display.

Unfortunately, the low-resolution is quite a disappointment for such a large screen, so some customers may find it unworthy just for that.

Moving on to the insides of the Canvas Play, the smartphone is equipped with a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6582M processor, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via mciroSD card slot.

Micromax Canvas Play features a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera with fixed-focus, LED flash and video recording, as well as a secondary VGA camera for video calls.

Last but not least, the phone will come with dual-SIM and 3G support, along with 2,820 mAh battery, which has yet to be rated by the manufacturer. Stay tuned for more on Micromax’s upcoming mid-range smartphone.
