The update will roll out over the air, in stages

Shortly after Lava Mobiles announced that its Iris X1 Grand and Iris Fuel 50 smartphones would receive Android 5.0 Lollipop this week, Micromax made a similar move with one of its devices, the Unite 2.

According to AndroidOS, the Lollipop update for Micromax Unite 2 should be released on April 7. The update will be pushed OTA (over the air) in waves, so it might not be available to everyone on the same date.

In order to upgrade your Unite 2 smartphone, you will need to make sure your smartphone's battery is at least 50% charged and that you have a stable Wi-Fi connection.

If you're not notified on the update on April 7, then you might start searching for it by heading to Settings / About phone / Software Update.

No official changelog has been published yet

Unfortunately, Micromax has yet to release an official changelog for Android 5.0 Lollipop update for Unite 2, but we're confident that the Indian company will share more details on the matter in the coming days.

Until then though, you can be sure that Micromax Unite 2 will receive all the new features and improvements included in Android 5.0 Lollipop. On top of that, the Indian company may also add some tweaks of its own.

“Launched with the aim to remove the language barrier in the country, Unite 2 was the world’s first phone with 21 languages support.

“The sale figure of the smartphone highlights the need of our masses for a more efficient technological experience which gives them the freedom to communicate through their phones in the comfort of their native language.”

The Unite 2 is not the only Micromax smartphone to receive Android 5.0 Lollipop. The company announced that some of its Canvas series handsets would be getting the update as well, but no release dates have been confirmed yet.
