Earlier this week, a methamphetamine lab was discovered in the men's bathroom at a Walmart store in the city of Muncie in Indiana, US. When found, the lab was active.

To avoid being harmed while trying to dismantle it, trained staff called in to assist the police on this case had to put on protective masks and suits.

What's more, the Walmart store's managers were told that, before letting people use them again, both the men's and the ladies' restrooms had to be decontaminated.

The meth lab was hidden inside a backpack

The Muncie police officers investigating this case say that the lab was discovered by Walmart employees late Thursday, at about 11:30 p.m. Technically, the Walmart employees did not find the meth lab.

Instead, what sparked their attention was an odd backpack lying on the floor of the men's restroom. Soon enough, the Walmart employees realized that something was seriously off and alerted authorities.

When they arrived, investigators opened the backpack and found that it contained an active meth lab. Shortly after, a trained team arrived and managed to successfully dismantle it, Fox News reports.

For the time being, police officers have no idea who it was that left the active meth lab abandoned at the Walmart store in Muncie. Still, they are convinced that they planned to return and check up on it.

Many people cook meth in public places

Since cooking methamphetamine for a living is not exactly the safest career ever known to mankind, it looks like plenty of people risk setting up labs in public places.

As explained by authorities, they do so to avoid contaminating their homes or being injured, should something go terribly wrong during the cooking process.

Having set up a meth lab in a public place, guys and gals in this line of work simply leave and let it be for several hours. Eventually, they return and collect whatever meth can be sold or consumed.
