Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is one of the most expected launches of the year and a new leak is suggesting that the title that is being created by Hideo Kojima and published by Konami is set to arrive worldwide on September 1 of this year.

The information was posted on the NeoGAF forums and seems to come from an official video which will be used to announce the launch date later in the week.

Konami has not yet commented on the leaked information and it will probably not offer any new details until the event planned for Wednesday, March 5.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is set to be offered on the PC, the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One and last-gen consoles.

It is interesting to note that Konami has chosen to deliver the title at the same time in all regions, which indicates that it sees it as a major event.

So far, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is not offered for pre-order and the publisher has not provided any details on the kinds of special editions or special offers that gamers will be able to get access to.

Hideo Kojima is introducing a range of new mechanics

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is the first title in the long-running franchise that is set to use an entirely open world structure, allowing players to explore any area of the world at any point, as long as they are able to get there and survive.

Many of the mechanics that were first shown in the Ground Zeroes experience will be present in the new title, including more ways for gamers to take out enemies without alerting them.

The day and night cycle runs in real time and affects how certain objectives can be tackled, and the AI of the enemy forces has been tweaked to make it harder to fool them when they are looking for the player character.

The story of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will be focused on Big Boss, and Hideo Kojima says that his team aims to create plenty of emotional moments and to explain some of the most intriguing mysteries of the series.
