After much speculation and gossiping back and forth about Melissa Rivers' next move, the daughter of the famous comedienne seems ready to take the endoscopy clinic where her mother died to court. The daughter has hired a powerful law firm and is planning a wrongful death suit against the Upper East Side clinic where Joan Rivers got her endoscopy.

The powerful law firm is also an expensive one, so it seems that Melissa isn't cutting back on expenses in order to find out what or who actually killed her mother, Joan Rivers. As you might remember, Joan was getting a procedure done there on her vocal chords in August, but complications led to her demise in a New York hospital days later.

Melissa has already signed with a powerful law firm and will sue the clinic

Melissa has already signed a contract with Gair, Gair, Conason, Steigma, Maloof, Bloom and Rubinowitz, according to NY Daily News. Managing partner Ben Rubinowitz has already released a statement, “In order to fully determine all the facts and circumstances surrounding the death of Joan Rivers, we confirm that our firm has been engaged by Melissa Rivers and her family.”

The only thing the lawyers are waiting for now before going to trial is for Joan's will to be filled in court, naming her daughter Melissa as the executor of her mother's estate.

A clear reason for Joan's death has not been given yet

An investigation launched by the NY City Medical Examiner reached the conclusion that Rivers died because her brain lost its oxygen supply during the procedure that took place at the private clinic. A spokesman for the Office claimed that “the death resulted from a predictable complication of medical therapy,” that could have been otherwise avoided.

The cause of death has not been determined with accuracy, because Melissa refused to allow an autopsy be performed on her dead mother, in following with Jewish traditions.

A source told the Mirror that “It's not about the money. For Melissa, this is about getting an answer about why this happened and making sure it never happens again. The only way to get these answers is to file a lawsuit. Melissa wants answers - not money.”

The source also points out that Joan shouldn't have died since the procedure was simple and any complications should have been foreseen and easily treatable.

It turns out that Melissa wants to turn her lawsuit into a campaign that will open the eyes of the public and hopefully lead to a “federal level” change in connection to the laws and regulations under which private clinics function at the moment.
