Melissa McCarthy is about to redefine our image of the pixie, as it's been announced that she will star as Tinker Bell, the famous fairy from the Peter Pan story, in a comedy-adventure film project that has yet to receive a title.
Deadline says that McCarthy has already signed the contract that will see her appear as the fairy heroine in a movie directed by Shawn Levy. It is believed that the film will bring a new twist to the classic tale, one that was planned out by Levy himself.
However, the script will be written by Nicholas Stoller, probably based on Levy's idea but also on J. M. Barrie's 1904 play “Peter Pan.”
McCarthy's latest role was in “St. Vincent” alongside Bill Murray, who was impressed with her acting skills and said that she would make a lovely Ghostbuster, after it has been revealed that the producers are now considering making the third “Ghostbusters” movie with a female cast.
As for Levy, he is just finishing up work on “Night at the Museum 3,” which is ready to be released in theaters by Christmas, and he's also getting ready to start working on two other major movies – “40 Thieves” and “Minecraft.”
