Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey are either playing games with the press for publicity purposes, or they’re really determined to try and make it through their divorce without saying a peep about it. Weeks after word got out that the two were living separately and talking a legal and definitive split, the diva is hinting at marital troubles in a new interview.

Mariah is preparing to kick off an Australian tour in support of her most recent album, the laboriously titled “Me. I Am Mariah… the Elusive Chanteuse,” and her comments aren’t exactly on-topic because she doesn’t name Nick or talk about her marriage explicitly.

But the clues are all there.

“I call it the misery,” diva says of rumored marital problems

Mariah sat down for an interview with Channel 10’s breakfast show Studio 10, and whilst talking about how her songwriting made her music very personal, she revealed that “Elusive Chanteuse” was her most personal work yet.

Each song reflected a side of her that her fans would never get to see on camera, she continued. Naturally, this included both the good and the bad.

“Each song is a different side of who I am and in some of them there's a lot of truths that I'm talking about,” she said, as the voiceover from the Australian show claimed the album came “at a very difficult time” in her life, when her marriage to Nick imploded.

“Some of them are kind of sad and almost too sad, really. I call it the misery. I love it and we have to have it,” Mariah continued.

No word yet if Mariah really wanted to make it sound as if she was confirming her marriage to Nick was over, or if she was aware that the studio would frame it in such a way as to give off that impression. But it certainly sounds like she’s owning up to it.

Mariah and Nick have been living apart for months

Officially, all fans know is that Nick and Mariah have been living apart for several months, after Nick moved out of their house in May. This comes straight from him, by the way. Just recently, he tweeted that there wasn’t any truth to reports that the marriage fell apart because Mariah is an annoying and asphyxiating diva, but he refused to elaborate.

Unofficially, fans have heard that the divorce arrangements are nearly done and that both have already discussed important agreements like custody and visitation for the twins, aka Dem Babies, and division of property / money issues.

Rumors also claim that infidelity played a part in the split, with Nick supposedly cheating on his wife. Meanwhile, Mariah is accused in the press of being jealous to an almost childish degree, to the point where she’d have him “check in” with her every minute or so, so she could make sure he wasn’t cheating.

The same reports claim there’s no chance of going back for these two.
