Super Bowl XLIX is less than one full week away and the developers at EA Sports are using the occasion to show off the way their Madden NFL 15 simulation can explore the various ways in which ignored real world players might influence the biggest game of the season.

The development team explains on the official site that there are five elements that might fly under the radar of most fans and which have the potential to decide the match between the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots.

The five potential X factors, as the company calls them, include Russell Wilson, the quarterback of the Seahawks, who might surprise with his scrambling rollout, with EA Sports explaining that “Wilson rushed 10 or more times in four games this season. His best running performance came in Week 5, where he rushed 11 times for 122 yards and a touchdown.”

Rob Gronkowski from the New England Patriots could also impress after playing poorly in Super XLI, capable of exploiting the weaknesses of the opposition.

Jermaine Kearse from the Seattle team could also feature prominently, able to improve his game when the big moments call for impressive performances.

New England can surprise with Julian Edelman.

Tactics also matter in both Madden NFL 15 and in the Super Bowl

Finally, EA Sports believes that unusual tactics could play a role in Super Bowl XLIX and explains that “The NFC championship excited Madden players everywhere with a 2-point conversion, fake field goal touchdown pass, and successful onside kick. What will we see in Super Bowl XLIX? Ineligible receiver trickery? A fake punt? Fake spike? End-around wide receiver pass? Flea flicker? Statue of Liberty?”

All the potential surprises are incorporated in the Ultimate Team mode for Madden NFL 15.

Soon the developers will also use the engine and some proprietary data gathered all through the season to predict the actual result of the Super Bowl XLIX match, and more content associated with the event will be rolled out this week.

A cheaper version of Madden NFL 15, which also includes Ultimate Team content, is offered on all platforms until February 2.
