The development team at Avalanche and publisher Warner Bros. have recently delivered a new trailer for their upcoming Mad Max video game offering more details about the car combat they will focus on and the way they are creating the game world.

The movie side of the franchise was rebooted this month with the launch of the new Fury Road film and it seems that the warm welcome it has received will make it easier for the audience to enjoy the coming virtual experience.

Speaking to Eurogamer Peter Wyse, a senior vice president of production and development at Warner Bros., states, "I think this film is just going to reset the mythology, so I'm happy that the film can come out and I don't have to come up with, you know, why our cars look the way they do and what these enemies are, so either way it's fine. We built a game that I hope gamers love, and a game that makes sense in and of itself."

The Mad Max title will tell a story that sees the protagonist separate from his beloved car, asked to work with a new character called Chumbucket in order to construct another vehicle that can move through the Wasteland.

The game is all about car based combat

Avalanche says that it will not try to recreate the complex action sequences of the movie, which were highly praised by both critics and audience members.

Instead the development team will focus on the way the vehicles, each with their own capabilities and styles, can engage each other at speed, with a variety of weapon and armor upgrades that can be obtained while exploring the wasteland.

About 60 percent of the title will involve driving, but Mad Max can also engaged in hand-to-hand combat with enemies on foot at certain points.

It's unclear how many of the characters seen in the movie will also be involved in the video game, but each unique region that gamers explore will have a backstory and certain new NPCs to interact with.

Mad Max will be launched on the PC, the Xbox One from Microsoft and the PlayStation 4 from Sony on September 1 in North America and on September 4 in Europe.
