Apple released a few minutes ago the first Public Beta of the forthcoming Mac OS X 10.10.3 update, a maintenance release for Yosemite that includes the highly anticipated iCloud-based Photos application, as well as performance and security improvements. This first Public Beta release is labeled as build 14D87p.

The new Photos app has been created from the ground up by Apple to automatically organize your entire photo collection, as well as to help you enhance them with powerful editing tools. Being based on iCloud, the Photos app will allow users to store their photos in the cloud, so they can access them on all of their devices.

Additionally, the Photos app includes three different view modes (Moments, Collections, and Years), lets you navigate your photo library by time and location, gives you the unique possibility to purchase prints in panoramic and square sizes, and features tab navigation for your photo library, which includes Photos, Shared, Albums, and Projects sections.

Photos app allows you to create professional-quality books

It will also allow you to create professional-quality photo books. Please note that your photos will be stored in iCloud Photo Library in full resolution and in their original format. Then, you will be able to access these photos from your iPhone and iPad mobile devices, as well as from your Mac. In addition, you can also access them from any web browser via iCloud.com.

The Public Beta is currently available through Apple’s OS X Beta program. If you’re wondering if you can test this pre-release of Mac OS X 10.10.3, we can tell you that anyone who feels a little bit adventurous can sign up for the program. However, keep in mind that you won’t be able to revert back to your existing system after the upgrade. Happy testing!
