They are Gaming-series adapters with green color theme

Micro-Star International has its own color preferences, with red being the primary hue when it comes to graphics cards, and most other products really. However, sometimes it makes exceptions, like, say, when a sales milestone is reached.

MSI recently sold the 100 millionth NVIDIA-based graphics card, so it figured this deserved, no, demanded some way to celebrate.

The way it chose to commemorate the occasion was fairly straightforward: releasing two new graphics cards. These boards are different from the rest, however, in how they are colored.

Instead of red, they carry the NVIDIA standard green color theme, both on their coolers and on their boxes.

The MSI GeForce GTX 960 and 970 Gaming 100 Million Edition

The MSI GTX 960 Gaming 100 ME and MSI GTX 970 Gaming 100 ME have already been made globally available and boast Twin Frozr V coolers with the Seaweed-Blade Fan and Cyclone Thermal Design.

The cooler is, interestingly enough, not as thick as other 2-slot coolers, but has increased heatpipe efficiency, 100 mm Torx fans and a SuperSU heatsink.

Between all those things, it does a much better job than the reference fansink, as well as a fair few other third-party coolers on the market.

Moreover, Airflow Control Technology allows the fans to stay off until a certain temperature is reached, a feature that MSI has been using since 2008. It was the first to market high-end, no-noise graphics cards.

You could say that NVIDIA finally giving a reference card, the GTX 960, zero-noise cooling (thanks to inactive fans) was a long time coming.

The specifications

The MSI GTX 960 Gaming 100 ME has a base clock of 1,216 MHz and a GPU Boost top setting of 1,279 MHz. It also boasts 2 GB of GDDR5 VRAM at 7 GHz and four video outputs: three DisplayPorts, one DVI and one HDMI.

The MSI GTX 970 Gaming 100 ME has base and boost GPU clocks of 1,140 MHz and 1,279 MHz, respectively, as well as dual-DVI, HDMI and DisplayPort outputs.

The prices of the MSI GeForce GTX 960 and 970 Gaming 100 Million Edition should be just a bit over the stock $199 / €199 and $300 - $329 / €300 - €329. Especially since both cards ship with a backplate (better structural rigidity and cooling).
