Fans of baseball have a lot to look forward to, in the form of MLB 15: The Show, a PlayStation exclusive series that's just about to get a new installment.

Developed by SCE San Diego Studio, the franchise started out back in 2006, and it's still going strong. The next installment is packing some neat features, which the developer detailed in a post on the PlayStation blog and in an informative video, available below.

MLB 15: The Show will introduce three new features, Universal Rewards, Licensed Equipment, and 30 Legends, a robust set of new mechanics for players to enjoy.

The devs added a Universal Profile feature to the series, tracking each player's style and passively rewarding gamers with stubs and XP, but this year, players will also be able to earn new items, usable throughout different game modes.

The developer partnered with some of the most well-known and iconic baseball brands in the world, bringing a slew of licensed gear from Franklin, Louisville Slugger, Nike, Under Armour, Wilson, Rawlings, Sam Bat, Mizuno, and Marucci.

A truly exciting edition

While having official gear is nice and all, gameplay is still king, and MLB 15: The Show plans to deliver on this front.

Road to the Show is a mode that focuses on one player's path to the majors. Gamers will be able to find equipment that enhances their attributes, instantly gaining boosts from bats, batting gloves, fielding gloves, cleats, and a ritual item.

The Franchise mode focuses on managing baseball organizations, with players struggling to find new brand sponsorship contracts, adding some brand flavor to the interface during game broadcasts and earning budget incentives for the team, based on performance in certain statistics.

Diamond Dynasty is a fantasy baseball card mode where players can assemble custom teams, coming with a slew of changes from the last installment, in order to keep things fresh.

MLB 15: The Show is scheduled for release on March 31, 2015, headed to the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 home consoles and to the PlayStation Vita handheld gaming system.
