Could ZTE be prepping another flagship so soon?

ZTE has just launched its ZTE Nubia Z9 flagships after months of keeping us on its toes, waiting. But it appears the Chinese company is already working on a new model.

A bunch of images showing an announced ZTE phone model have surfaced online today, revealing a device with a dual camera on the back, thin bezels and rounded corners just like in the case of the iPhone 6.

Looking at the design, the phone does seem to benefit from a unibody structure that is probably made of aluminum. But that’s just a guess at this moment.

Does ZTE have another premium phone in the pipeline?

This unidentified phone isn’t exactly bezel-less like the ZTE Nubia Z9, but it’s pretty close to it. So we could assume the handset could have edges to be employed by the user to activate certain features like shutter on the camera, just like in the case of the Nubia Z9.

By employing several gestures where the bezels would normally be, users could take a screenshot, switch between apps, control the volume and the display brightness and more.

It’s just a supposition that the mystery device showed in the images might take advantage of these functions, so take it with a grain of salt.

The images also reveal the locations of the power and volume buttons, with the SIM slot located on the left. The microUSB port lives at the bottom alongside the unit’s speaker.

It’s still remains to be seen whether this could be ZTE’s next-gen flagship, but since the Nubia Z9 was launched just a few weeks ago, we’d have to say that it’s probably not.

ZTE Nubia Z9 spec roundup

The company’s current flagship arrives with a 5.2-inch 1080p display (like the HTC One M9), Snapdragon 810 processor and either 3GB or 4GB of RAM.

On the imaging front, the device dons a 16MP main shooter with f/2.0 aperture and OIS (optical image stabilization) plus a Sony 8MP camera unit with 80-degree lens up in front.

Interestingly enough, ZTE is selling the phones for pretty steep prices. The Classic model with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage goes on sales for $563 / €495, while the Exclusive edition with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of memory can be yours for $725 / €641.
