Xiaomi’s only tablet starts selling outside of China

Last year, up and rising Chinese device manufacturer Xiaomi launched its first tablet, the MiPad. The slate was one of the first to take advantage of NVIDIA’s new and powerful Tegra K1 processor, but sadly was offered only in China.

Well, as of this week, Xiaomi is extending availability of the tablet to India, where the MiPad can be purchased from Flipkart for $208 / €196. The slate starts shipping out on March 24.

Back when it launched, the MiPad was heavily criticized for being nothing more than an iPad mini clone. On top of that, Xiaomi also blatantly copied the iPhone 5c’s coloring schemes, but if you don’t mind any of these aspects, the MiPad proves to be quite a worthy object.

The tablet arrives with a 7.9-inch display with 2048 x 1536 pixel resolution and is outfitted with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage (expandable via mircoSD card), 8MP frontal camera and a pretty chunky 6700 mAh battery.

The tablet runs Xiaomi’s own MIUI 6 which is based on Android 4.4 KitKat. It’s not clear whether Xiaomi plans to provide the Lollipop update to the tablet or not, as for the time being, we don’t have specific info in this regard.
