Samsung’s newest Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge have dazzled the world right from the start, attracting positive feedback from all around the globe, despite Sammy’s failure to include a microSD card reader and removable battery.

The company is feeling mighty hopeful about sales too, anticipating it will manage to push up to 70 million units to users until the end of the year.

Even if the promotional marketing campaign for the Galaxy S6 continues to go smoothly around the world, it appears South Korean customers haven’t been all that impressed with Samsung’s latest efforts.

According to local website Yonhap News, 300,000 customers in the country placed a pre-order for the S6 or S6 Edge, but along the waiting period, some of them changed their mind, so Samsung ended up shipping out only 200,000 units until now.

Even so, it’s quite early to tell whether the Galaxy S6 will end up being branded as “unpopular” in the country or not. One reason for the lower-than-expected sales might be limited carrier subsidies.

Some carriers in the country only shaved off about $194 / €180 from the unlocked retail price, which wasn’t enough for some customers. However, carrier subsidies for the S6 series have reportedly increased over the past week. Which means Samsung could hope to sell more in the country.
