Nokia rolled out the HERE Maps app for Android for Google Play on December 12, after previously releasing the Android Beta to the Samsung Galaxy Store a few months earlier.

Since then the app has enjoyed a lot of popularity, and when we say a lot, we really mean it. Lots and lots of folks have been downloading the software and have been giving it pretty good reviews too.

You can check out for yourself on Google Play and see that the application has apparently been downloaded more than 1 million times.

However, only Nokia could provide us with the real data regarding the number of downloads. The application also has a total of 36,171 ratings (at the time of writing this article) and a score of 4.4 which is quite a lot given that the app is still in Beta.

The reason why HERE Maps is such a popular application is because users can take any Android device (running Android 4.1 or later that is) and navigate offline, finding their way in as many as 118 different countries.

Recently, the application has been updated to include Android 5.0 Lollipop support, so if you are one of the owners of a device that has been updated to Android’s latest, you can go ahead and use HERE Maps too.
