Take advantage of the discounted prices while it lasts

One major benefit of owning an Android device is getting access to the huge library that is the Google Play Store. It seems like the Play Store has existed since forever, but naturally it has not.

Well, today, the Google Play Store is celebrating its birthday, as the service is turning three. Back in 2010, the Play store used to be called Android Market and housed roughly 100,000 apps, meaning it was still a long way from catching up with the App Store.

It eventually did, and three years ago it received a makeover which transformed it into what it is today.

To celebrate this wonderful occasion, Google is offering its users a bunch of deals for items in the apps, books, movies and music categories.

If you access the main Google Play Store page, you’ll be shown a list of discounted products (up to 90%). For example, you can get a price cut on Eminem’s Curtain Call: The Hall album or download the Racing Rivals game for less than usual.

But if you’re more like me, you’ll probably take advantage of the discount to snatch Margaret Atwood’s wonderful novel Oryx and Crake.

We don’t know how long Google will keep the promotion up, so you'd better be fast in taking a look at it to see if there’s anything that might interest you. For all we know, the celebration could last for today only.
