BlackBerry is prepping a new handset this summer

BlackBerry was present at MWC 2015 in Barcelona last month, but the Canadian company didn't announce any new device.

But what most of us didn't know is that the phone maker actually introduced a model in extreme secrecy. The folks at BlackBerry Central have gotten word that the device is called BlackBerry Oslo, and today they are treating us to the very first image showing the phone.

Rumor has it that the smartphone might be ready for public release as soon as June 30. Oslo seems to be as large as the Passport, although not as square-ish looking.

We also get a glimpse at the specifications, which indicate that the BlackBerry Oslo is set to arrive with a 1440 x 1440 LCD screen, a 13MP/2MP camera combo, 3,450 mAh battery, and BlackBerry OS 10.3.2 out of the box.

It seems the device is not aimed specifically for any market and will see a global rollout soon. For the time being, that’s all the information we have to share about the device, but as soon as more surfaces, we will surely update you.

It will be interesting to find out the actual form factor of the device and the processor nestled on the inside. But time will tell.
