Sony announced last week that it had started the rollout of the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for Xperia Z3. However, since this is a staged deployment, it will take a few weeks until it reaches all countries.

The good news is beginning today, Sony Xperia Z3 owners in India will be able to download Android 5.0 Lollipop update.

Initially, the update was only available through Sony PC Companion desktop application, but reports from XDA forum members claim that the Lollipop is now being pushed OTA (over the air) to Xperia Z3 devices.

Keep in mind that you will need around 1.2GB free storage in order to be able to install Android 5.0 Lollipop on your Sony Xperia Z3. It's also worth mentioning that the file is about 625MB in size, so make sure your smartphone is connected to a stable Wi-Fi network.

From what we know, this update will not wipe out any information on your Xperia Z3 smartphone, but we recommend users to back up their data on a PC or microSD card.

In other news, Sony announced earlier this week that it had started to deploy the same Lollipop update for Xperia Z3 Dual, Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1 Compact and Xperia Z Ultra.
