The two smartphones will bypass a stage update-wise

Last month, it seemed that the Android 5.0 update started hitting unlocked versions of the second-gen Moto G smartphone.

Sadly, the update was quickly pulled and just a few lucky Moto G owners managed to get their hands on it. But if you were one of those that got left out in the cold, I have a piece of good news for you, meant to put a smile on your face.

It appears the Moto G will be updated to Android 5.0.1 directly and the new build is currently rolling out to the device (as seen at Droid Life).

What’s more, both the first generation and the second generation of the handset are receiving the update now.

Apparently, the Android 5.0.1 update comes in as version 22.21.25 with build number LXB22.46-25 for the 2014 version of Moto G, while the 2013 model is getting software version 220.21.25 with build number LXB22.46-25.

If you are the owner of either of these devices and you haven’t received the update yet, don’t panic. As it usually happens, some users might receive it today, while others have to wait a few more days/weeks.

Anyway, you can also attempt to manually check for the availability of the update by going to the Settings>About phone>System updates>Check for updates section.
