Mail Plugin Manager is a small OS X app that aims to improve your overall user-experience whit OS X’s Mail utility by providing you with a feature that has always been missing: a plugin manager.
Basically, with the help of Mail Plugin Manager, you can enable or disable installed Mail plugins as well as remove them with a single click, without having to search manually for them in obscure Library folders.
The little Mail Plugin Manager application can also make it simple for you to update Mail plugins that no longer work with your current version of OS X. Mail Plugin Manager brings at your disposal a comprehensive list of Mail plugins that you can easily download and install directly within its interface with just a few clicks.
In terms of organization, you should know that Mail Plugin Manager doesn’t intimidate with fancy features and what you see is what you get.
You can better manage your Mail plugins with the help of Mail Plugin Manager’s five menus, namely “Installed Mail Plugins”, “Enabled Mail Plugins”, “Disabled Mail Plugins”, “Available Mail Plugins”, and “Mail Plugins with available Updates”.
Unfortunately, Mail Plugin Manager is not what you would call a stable application, with a lot of interface problems and buttons that don’t work as they should or don’t work at all for starters.
But that’s not the worst thing and by far the most annoying problem is the fact that every time we have tried to download or install a plug-in, Mail Plugin Manager started hanging and, inevitably, we were forced to restart the application on more than one occasions.
As a final note, while Mail Plugin Manager is a very good idea, and we have actually managed to make it work by restarting the app every time it crashed, one thing is quite clear: this application still needs a lot of work done to it before it can actually be more useful than it is annoying.
