Before buying anything on the street, you first have to think about the old "If it looks to good to be true, it probably is" saying.

That is what a man who got scammed by a street merchant in Manchester must have thought after getting tricked into buying a bag of sugar instead of two new iPhone 6s smartphones.

According to Manchester Evening News, the whole thing happened quite quick for the man to actually not being able to notice that his two new iPhones have been switched with a bag of sugar.

As the new owner of the most expensive bag of sugar in the world declared after the police got at the scene of the unfortunate exchange, after handing the street trader £500 ($757) he withdrew from an ATM on Manchester's Picadilly, the trader promptly vanished leaving him holding a box that now contained a bag of sugar instead of the two iPhone 6s phones he was promised.

Last year another man was scammed to buy a box of potatoes for £250 ($378) instead of an iPad

According to Inspector Phil Spurgeon: “We’d like to remind people that if a deal seems too good to be true, it usually is. You’re either buying a fake or stolen article, or something completely different.”

This is not the only case where Apple devices were involved, because last year on the exact same street in Manchester a man paid £250 ($378) for an iPad that proved to be a box of potatoes once the street vendor that offered the deal left the premises.

All in all, if you're ever offered a deal you cannot refuse on the street, think twice before accepting to give out your money and, more importantly, never make any deals with street vendors while in Manchester.

Especially if you see any signs around you saying that you're on Picadilly Street.
