One of the most interesting announcements during Apple's event is related to user experience and how one can interact with its mobile device.

Having been among the first to come up with the multi-touch technology, Apple searched for new ways to improve the technology or go beyond it by evolving it into something new.

The evolution to multi-touch technology is called 3D Touch and comes by default with the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus smartphones.

Apple's 3D Touch offers new ways to navigate and experience iPhone by sensing pressure to enable new gestures like “peek” and “pop.”

This will allow users to dip in and out of content without losing their place. Simply press lightly to Peek at a photo, email and webpage, or press a little deeper to Pop into the content itself and have it displayed immediately.

In addition, the new Quick Actions is another feature implemented in 3D Touch, which provides users with shortcuts to the things they need most, so they can send a message or take a photo with just a simple press from the Home screen.

According to Apple, the new 3D Touch technology is made possible thanks to the sensors embedded into the backlight of the iPhone's display. Due to these sensors, the display is capable of sensing how much pressure is applied to it.
