It’s Pegatron’s turn to answer to those allegations made by the BBC in their Panorama documentary. In a statement filed with the Taiwan Stock Exchange, the electronics manufacturer said that it didn’t have any knowledge of workers being mistreated.

The actual statement provided by Pegatron remains under wraps for the time being, but the company has reportedly told the Taiwan Stock Exchange that “employee safety is its top priority and it has been working to ensure all of its working places are safe.”

It has denied knowledge of the severe allegations made by the BBC, but has said that it will inspect all of these claims and, where necessary, it will “start implementing improvements to ensure the problems are solved,” according to DigiTimes.

Not mentioning Apple, Pegatron brags that it has set high standards for its own operations, including training for management and regular workers, while inspectors are always performing their regular checks. It further noted that its communication channels include ways for employees to report wrongdoings and make suggestions, adding that it took a mere three days to resolve almost all of them (94%) throughout 2014.

We’ll report again on Pegatron’s version of the story when more concrete facts emerge (including the company’s original statement, in full).
