Play galleries on the big screen through AirPlay tech

Microsoft has rolled out an update to its awesome Xim app that pairs devices and allows users to show entire galleries of photos as slideshows on other people’s devices without requiring those people to have the app installed themselves.

Xim lets everyone control a gallery of photos by putting navigation options at their fingertips. When the pairing is complete, anyone can progress through the gallery, zoom in and out of the photos, and even save them to their own device. Security-concerned users can prevent this option from ever appearing, but Microsoft warns that anyone can take a screenshot at any time. This is something the company cannot prevent.

Display support is now available for browser, Xbox One, Google Chromecast, Amazon Fire TV, and Fire TV Stick, as well as Apple TV via AirPlay technology. Xim expiration can now be set to one full hour, and any annoyances you may have experienced so far should be addressed, as the update also includes bug fixes.

To download Microsoft Xim 1.3 you will need an iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad running iOS 7.0 or later. The interface is currently localized only in English. The app is free to download and use indefinitely, and it does not contain any in-app purchases or hidden costs. It’s available not only for iOS, but also for Android and Windows Phone.
