Google Maps 4.2.0 is out and ready to be downloaded by all iPhone and iPad users. Still supported on iOS 6 (at least according to the official iTunes description), the client adds new filters, weather information, business features, and more.

Users who prefer Google’s mapping application in favor of Apple’s are in for a pleasant surprise today. By installing the new 2.4.0 version, users will get to filter searches for restaurants by cuisine type, see up-to-the-minute weather information for cities around the world, and use additional options for sharing places.

Best of all, you can now drop a pin for your starting point and destination point in directions and navigation to make it easier to get somewhere without fumbling too much with the phone. You can further add public transport directions to your calendar, and business owners and manage their presence on Maps and claim their listing page. The usual bag of fixes is also included in this release.

Download Google Maps 2.4.0 for your iDevice and try the new features today. The client’s interface is supported in over a dozen different languages, including Arabic, Catalan, Chinese, Croatian, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Romanian, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, Vietnamese, and many others. The app is free to download and use on your iPhone or iPad indefinitely.
