Device going into production in about three months

The estimated launch window for Apple Watch is “early 2015,” which means anywhere from January 1 to the end of May, if we break 2015 down into trimesters. Considering how Apple labels its hardware iterations (Early/Mid/Late), we could well see the watch roll out closer to summer.

Forget that so-called leak made by Angela Ahrendts earlier this year. Maybe the launch window was spring 2015 back then, but what if things haven’t progressed quite according to plan ever since? What if Apple will have to push the release to the end of May, or perhaps even delay the launch until summer?

A tidbit from Taiwan’s supply chain sources certainly indicates that there’s a good chance of that happening: “Apple's supply chain has also been preparing components for the Apple Watch and mass production of the wearable device is believed to start in three months,” reads a DigiTimes report filled with rumors from the Far East.

If production starts in three months from now, I for one am not holding my breath for an April launch. I call May, which is still in the timeframe cited by Apple and retail boss Angela Ahrendts. Just don’t expect early 2015 to mean early spring, is all I’m saying.
